Educate the public
Bring documented stories of conflict, reconciliation, and recovery to the public, helping audiences understand complex humanitarian issues through firsthand accounts.
Who we are
History
We are a veteran-led educational media nonprofit with a transparent and verifiable commitment to creating stories that educate, build understanding, and elevate humanity to its highest purpose.
Two people, in the aftermath of Afghanistan. One had spent twenty years inside the war on terror, Special Forces and then the private side of it, and had run out of appetite for any of it. The other was a filmmaker, a music industry executive with a long career and no military background at all.
They had no reason to meet. When they did, they kept returning to the same idea: that the people who have been on opposite sides of a conflict almost never get put in a room together, and that film is one of the few things that can do it.
Instead of blowing up bridges, we should be finding ways to build them.
That is a line from the soldier's side of the trade, and it turned out to be the whole idea. Peacemaker Coalition was founded to act on it. A veteran who knew what conflict costs, a filmmaker who knew how to make people watch, and a bet that the two together could reach further than either one alone.
As veterans come home after years overseas, their experience belongs in the shared story rather than outside it. Some of them are trading the rifle for a camera. That is the same instinct pointed somewhere better.
What we do
01
Bring documented stories of conflict, reconciliation, and recovery to the public, helping audiences understand complex humanitarian issues through firsthand accounts.
02
Offer workshops, training programs, and resources for people interested in storytelling as a means of change, including digital media, filmmaking, writing, and public speaking.
03
Use storytelling to raise awareness of pressing social issues, including equality, civil and human rights, poverty, education, healthcare, and environmental impact.
04
Work with other nonprofits, educational institutions, and community organizations to use storytelling for broader impact.
05
Help communities tell their own stories, giving people a voice to share their experiences, challenges, and aspirations.
The broader vision
Our ambition knows no bounds. While our journey begins at home, our ultimate aspiration is to take the Peacemaker Coalition's mission global, building understanding and unity through education, one story at a time.
Operational support
The Peacemaker Coalition is continually assembling a collaborative team of civilians and veterans, drawing on the unique expertise of each group. By combining the skills of media professionals with the specialized skillsets of military veterans, we build a team of storytellers with exceptional talent.
Veteran incorporation
For veterans, this work repurposes the skills, discipline, and firsthand experience gained in military service into a new vocation in public education, giving those who served a continued mission after the uniform.
Messaging
Our narrative is designed to provoke introspection and spark a change in perspective. We want people to look deeper into the stories of those around them, fostering an environment where peace is the default choice. Our similarities in emotion, aspiration, and hope far outweigh our differences at home or abroad.
Founders
All have the heart to help disadvantaged communities with an emphasis on veterans. They are visionaries with a hope to make inspiring and uplifting content through film, television, radio, and social media to reach global communities.
